So, today I’m going to check the weather. I pop open my handy Chrome browser (from Google) and head over to Google.com (also from Google) and before I even finish typing the word “Weather” into the search bar, Google has already shown me the local weather forecast (apparently also from Google).
Spooky, huh? How did it know?
So, then I move on to checking my flight status. I can never remember which website I use for checking the flight statuses, so I start to type in what I ant in the search bar and once again–before I even hit the return key–there is my flight status presented on the google home page in the predictive results list.
So, Google scoops up all the info on the web and presents it to me before I even visit the site it scooped the information from. But I can’t help wondering if the sites where Google gets this information from are upset about Google using their information and not driving traffic back to their site.
Whatever the sources for this data think, I’ve gotta admit, it’s pretty convenient. Anyone know any other tips for getting info right from the Google home page?
